For their 15th anniversary Urban Decay released a palette with some of the most pigmented and smooth eyeshadows in their line. Famously edgy colors come from UD, and this palette is made of rich colors, some dark and some beautiful highlights, along with a couple unusual and bright shades.
Since its release, I have used this palette weekly (which is a lot for me, since I have many palettes in my rotation). Also, since UD often re-releases shades, these swatches and up-close looks at the eyeshadows can help you decide if you want to purchase them. I’ve been wanting to do a review of it for a while. I’m still working on my camera set up, so hang in there while I figure out the best lighting!
Many standout shades, a few that fall short.
Midnight Rodeo
A lovely, glittery beige shade. Very pigmented!
Tainted
Sadly a disappointing shade. It’s very sheer and powdery. It is a lovely shade of pink that leans lavender.
Deeper
I use this shade all the time as a standalone eyeshadow look. Lovely, pigmented and buttery smooth. It is a richer bronze/brown than the picture shows.
Swatches:
Midnight 15
A lighter cream shade than Midnight Cowboy with finer glitter flecks. Another shade that’s a standout on the lid! Very pigmented and shimmery.
Junkshow
A beautiful pink in the pan, but it’s on the sheer side, and it turns muddy when I try to blend it out.
M.I.A
A very smooth, pigmented, dark and shimmery brown. Lovely in the crease.
Swatches:
Vanilla
This is a gorgeous shimmery cream shade that is more than just a beautiful eyeshadow – I also like to use it as a highlighter on my cheekbones.
Omen
Like Junkshow, this shade is lovely in the pan, but sheer on application, though this purple/blue shade has a cool shift when you look close.
Ace
A shimmery slate grey that has a blue undertone. Great pigmentation and very easy to apply.
Swatches:
Flow
An awesome peach shimmer shade, wonderful on its own on the lid or as a highlight.
Evidence
A dark denim blue, this looks lovely in the crease with Deep End on the lid. Very pigmented and buttery smooth.
Blackout
A disappointing matte black. The formula on this just doesn’t work when swatched, and it took several passes to get it opaque.
Swatches:
Chase
Golden beige to complement your tan, lovely lid shade or highlight on deeper skin tones.
Deep End
My favorite of the palette! This shade is so pigmented and rich. It looks amazing on the lid, under the eye on your lash line, really anywhere you want to put it. Buttery and smooth, this blends like a dream.
Half Truth
This looks almost grey in the pan, but it’s really a deep silvery brown-purple. Awesome crease shade, or to darken the corners of your eye with Junkshow on the lid!
